As new COVID-19 infections continue in West Sacramento, Healthy Yolo Together, working with the City of West Sacramento, has opened a community testing site at City Hall to help meet the increased need for regular testing. The site operates five days a week, Monday through Friday.

The saliva-based COVID-19 tests offered to all West Sacramento residents by Healthy Yolo Together are quick, painless, and free, and they only require test takers to spit in a tube for reliable results in 24-48 hours.

In addition, Healthy Yolo Together continues to provide on-site weekly COVID-19 school testing for students and staff in partnership with the Washington Joint Unified School District. Community testing at the Washington Joint Unified School District Office has also been expanded to five days a week.

Getting vaccinated and boosted, getting tested regularly - even after you are fully vaccinated - and following local mask guidance are important actions West Sacramento community members can take right now to prevent the spread of COVID-19. It is especially important to get tested if you are not vaccinated, have symptoms, or if you have been exposed to someone with COVID-19. COVID-19 tests and vaccines are available and free.

“When I think about where we were last year at this time, there were so many unknowns and we had no vaccines,” said Dr. Sheri Belafsky, medical director for Healthy Yolo Together and director of the Medical Surveillance Program for UC Davis Health. “Now we have the tools that we know work to protect one another -- testing, vaccines, masking up. Let’s use them.”
